Someone on DoA was asking about MSD hybrids so I snapped some pictures of my MSD Schulze (which has eyes modded smaller, and is from 2005 according to the headplate) on a bunch of bodies. I threw the DV girl body in there just because I had it around and undressed, haha.

Dream Valley B4-02 girl body in yellow with Doll Chateau hands (the foot is somewhere else): Super bobbleheaded but would probably look cute with the more anime-looking heads honestly. The body is in the right color family but lighter. A newer head might be closer.

Dream Valley B4-04 51cm boy body in white skin / WS (mine is using a Dollshe hand as well): Very obviously not a resin match to Volks NS/pureskin. Actually looks good proportionally if you want a very tall doll.

On Fairyland Minifee / MNF old A-line boy body in NS (from 2007-2008): Good resin match, but the head looks pretty big. The neck is thin for my taste. Newer FL NS will not match like this… the color is different after 2012 or so.

On Souldoll Soulkid NL boy body in NS (mine has modded hips/thighs): Souldoll NS is very light and pink and doesn’t match Volks at all. Also this particular body poses horribly (hence the mods). The proportions are quite nice though since it’s a bigger body.

On Akagidoll 47cm boy body in NS (mine has Resinsoul hands right now): This one is my first choice. The color is a little darker than my head actually, but it looks good with the faceup. Great proportions, like a taller version of the original measurements. Also it’s just a really solid inexpensive body that poses really well.

Here’s the last of my kinda-finished dolls to recap (phew). She’s a Unoa 2nd Cream with the Dollybird face. She has a really weirdly designed body with astonishing bad and weird engineering, but I really wanted her because she can squeeze into Gene fashions and I have a whole lot of them that I got from an estate sale.

I tried to keep her faceup fairly simple but a bit glam. I didn’t sand her eyebrows or anything so those were a bit weird to paint.

This one had been my project for a month or so! She is Large. Very Large. But also not as heavy as a resin SD. She poses well and is super fun. I did pretty extensive mods on her face trying to make her look more stylized and less childlike.

She’s a Parabox 80cm Otohime Yu-Chan and she wears:
26mm eyes (could probably do 28mm since I enlarged them)
16-17 inch wig (Monique human hair and one from Parabox)
Newborn and 0-3 month baby clothes
Size 2 baby shoes

I also followed ao_ame0321 on Twitter’s tips to joint her hands so they’re very fun now. She’s also super fun to dress since I can pick up $2 baby clothes when I go by the thrift store.

I was fortunate to be able to snag both parts of this modded Minifee Tika at once from different sellers! I thought this head had a really appealing look but I didn’t want to get a floating head that was old FL tan and have to find a matching body. Luckily, a matching old tan body popped up. This doll has intense knife cat energy and similar vibes to older CP sculpts like Breakaway which I love. For the faceup I went with a similar vibe to the concepts I abandoned on Soony and I think it suits them better.

Oops I almost missed this girl! So, I had the old F60 body with Delf limbs (Soony’s leftovers hybrid) and wanted a head to pair up with my Soony. I thought over a lot of options and actually picked up an old Elfdoll Soah head originally, but I found that I didn’t like how she looked with big ol’ 9-inch-head, 20mm-eye-wearing Soony. In my heart I knew the sculpt I had in mind was a Volks 4 Sisters. I ended up picking up a whole Megu from Dollyteria because she cost pretty close to what I’ve seen the heads go for on DoA. She’s a lovely mold I always liked, but she’s also a particularly good scale/style match for Soony. I’m going for a sweet frail goth/scary angel handmaiden kinda vibe with the two of them but I’m still trying to pin them both down.

I haven’t done too much with her since she arrived, besides sueding and styling… she has a Volks faceup, so she hasn’t been at the top of the queue, although I don’t like the faceup.

I’m almost through all the dolls! This girl is a Serenade Doll Charlotte SP. She has fun proportions, 1/3 height with a 5-6 inch head. She looks like roughly the proportions of my mature ¼ scale dolls, but taaaaaaall. She’s quite beautifully sculpted, but the details are kind of hard to make out with her translucent resin. I’d like to go in and give her some detailed blushing sometime. Her company faceup is beautiful but I’ve just added a little shading around the nose without sealing so far.

9/7/2011:

Oldest one I have is 7/6/2007 (only the doll on the right was mine):

I picked up this nice Fairyline Minifee boy body hoping that Tennant or Wes could use it, but it was way too small for both of them. However, what I did have was the extra sleeping head that Dollshe sent with my Saint. I was interested in modding the eyes open to look a bit more like the faceplate Saint with the smaller eyes, and I thought the proportions on the MNF body were really good. I made the wig from a wigcap I’d rejected for my first Saint’s wig because it was too thick, so the wig is kinda bulky but he has a lot of drama.

I could say a whole lot of words about my most grailiest of grail dolls but I will refrain from that and leave you with a bunch of Soony photos with minimal explanation. I will make my scale exception for her, she is the best and I love her. In the less than a year I’ve had her she’s had body mods, she’s had three faceups because I wanted it perfect, she got a rare old F60 body just for me to steal the arms a legs from, and I’ve made her two different hard cap wigs. I’m still feeling out her personality/character but she’s by far my favorite non-OC doll.

She’s a Garden of Dolls Nabiya I got on eBay for an extreme bargain, but she smelled badly of cigarette smoke, so she had to have a good bath. I think her company faceup was “enhanced” with nail polish. I was really afraid it would have stained her badly, but it came off fine. I did her faceup along with Conchita’s that went really badly in December, so I was frustrated and still haven’t quite finished it, even though I don’t think hers is bad.

Nabiya is an old American artist sculpt, casted by Bobobie/Resinsoul. I’ve liked her for a long time so she was cool to find. She’s dark tan and this is batch is darker and and the cooler side which I love.

Once I was actually nearly finished with my OC dolls, but not off my OC dolls kick, naturally I started thinking about shelling more OCs. King had been in the back of my head for a while, but I never come across any Project Doll Parts that seemed like they would work for her. When I realized the scale that Daniel and Tennant had turned out, though, I realized… hmm, that’s about FID size. And Iplehouse is a great aesthetic match for a Barbie like King. And when I went looking, I found a perfect combination of sculpt and color for her on the DoA marketplace, so that was that.

I made her wig pretty quickly, but I put off redoing her faceup because the Iplehouse one was perfectly nice. My first redo attempt, in December 2020, was just bad! Sometimes it’s just not working with you. I gave it another try slowly over this spring/summer and I’m much happier with the result. She’s gorgeous and she poses… enough, but I hate the Iplehouse hips, haha.
