Hiroki Doll

I was WILDLY overambitious making a gift for @muddyevil and this is what I ended up with, haha. This is their character Hiroki (who is my OC in law) I sculpted the head, but the body is by ChrisGTZB. I printed the full doll in Ziro3d Matte PLA and did a light overall sanding. I designed the head cap with a hairline shape so that he could have both a regular/shaved head cap and a wig where I glued the hair directly to the print.

The faceup was a super experimental one for me. Because this is PLA and not that smooth I knew pastels would not apply very smoothly, so I decided to try doing an all-acrylic faceup with no sealant. I used matte Acryl Gouache and tried the Vallejo Glazing Medium for the first time. That stuff is a game changer! It lets me blend out the paint beautifully and I feel like I’ve unlocked the secrets of the universe. I’m excited to try it on other dolls too.

Angeltoast Crow/Impldoll Mod

I found one of my last remaining long-shot wishlist dolls out there for sale on DoA, an Angeltoast Crow, conveniently on the same weekend as a body that I was interested in in a same-ish color! (The existing faceup makes the match look much worse than the headcap does) So I paired Crow with this lovely Impldoll Star Model body. I think both have a very elegant elvish look. However, this is a biiig body, and this one had the large bust, which was so large that basically none of my 1/3 clothes fit at all so I flattened the bust down. I’d never tried to remove that much resin at once before, and I wasn’t able to get it down with my Dremel, so I ended up sawing them off with a small hand saw which I did a terrible job of and took way too much off one side. I might get a new bust eventually but this does the job of fitting clothes how I want.

Daniel and Tennant Faceups

( August 2025 ) Daniel and Tennant updated faceups! I kinda crammed to get these two ready before Resin Rose. I was pretty nervous doing the faceups because I’m still pretty happy with the old ones, especially Daniel! I think Tennant’s is an improvement but I don’t know about Daniel’s. I might end up doing him again. I tried to match his coloring to his hands more, though (They were painted when I got them). I did in fact spend a full working/weekend day painting Daniel’s body hair.

OC Dolls WIP

More OC’s! I actually got these two printed along with Daniel in the Resione. This is the fourth iteration on Tennant (one arm), but the first time I’ve made Jilles (scars). It is entirely by accident that his doll looks like the halfway point between Daniel and Tennant haha.

For Tennant, the primary focus I had was just making him “prettier”. He still looks like him, but I wanted him to read more immediately as someone who was disarmingly handsome in a Disney Prince/Ken doll kind of way. Jilles is supposed to be long-faced and gaunt. He’s good-natured but kind of intimidating, and much younger than the other too, but barely looks it because of how ill he is.

Little Rebel Angel Faceup

( July 2025 ) I finished Angel’s faceup alongside Page’s. You can see two things in the process: one is that I once again started trying to use purples before remembering that I don’t like them and pivoting to warm colors again, and the other is how every layer looks terrible before being sprayed because of the white pastel base required for the colors to show up.

Ace of Dolls Page Faceup

( July 2025 ) Here’s the faceup process for the Ace of Dolls page I won in the raffle at Resin Rose 2023! I airbrushed them in white and yellow originally planning for a soft lovebird/parakeet kind of effect but somehow the yellow I used totally overpowered the white layer to go BRIGHT TOXIC GREEN. Luckily I really liked that too but I had to pivot my plan so something bolder haha.
