Lookback Shiwoo Faceup

( August 2025 ) Here’s my Lookback Shiwoo that I’ve used to reshell/replace the modded Tika head. I incorporated similar design elements but I’m much happier with the way that they look. I entered them in the faceup contest at Resin Rose 2025 and did not win but I’m still proud of them haha. I actually tested a bunch of lower lashes digitally before deciding that I really just preferred them with the thick liner only.

Shinydoll Jointing

Shinydoll Meefa has some very interesting jointing so I took these pictures to show how it works!

Neck isn’t too crazy, but she has a separate ball for a big range of motion.

Her elbows are my favorite, they’re somewhere between a hinge and a ball. The sliced design gives it enough friction to hold any position in the range flawlessly without adding a second pivot point. Cut joint for rotation.

The hips are very clever, there is a nub in the inner hip ball and a soft indent that restricts the range of motion to stop it from spinning around while also keeping good friction. This seems really hard to recreate without mushing clay though!

It’s a little hard to see, but her lower torso is very solid, and the hole where the string goes from the torso to the leg is set further to the outside than I expect. Her legs are probably the most stable I’ve ever had and she is not sueded.

Mitzi Craft Dolls

( December 2023 ) I started collecting variations of these “Mitzi” craft dolls/heads when I found a bunch at once at Goodwill one day (seen with the price tags, the ones without I already had). I have even more than this now (in 2025) but this was where I was 2 years ago. I love them, one day I would love to design a body for them to suit my tastes.

Bene – November 2023

I bought one pack of raffle tickets at Resin Rose this year and I had possibly the best luck I have ever had with it. One of the prizes I won was this Bene head by Panda Workshop. I had never seen this sculpt before and I find him SO interesting and striking. I don’t often really fall for the big boy sculpts because they don’t have the level of stylization I’m drawn to own, but this guy has it in spades! I got an old Spiritdoll Proud body for him. It doesn’t fit as many of my clothes as I had hoped so he’s hanging around in underwear and a cape, haha.

Resin Rose 2023

August 2023 – Most of the photos I took at Resin Rose 2023 came our really badly for some reason ;-; But I did still have some pictures.

1 and 2 – Daniel and Tennant – You can really see how Daniel’s head is splitting along the layer lines here haha.

3 – Delf Soony – Hard to mess up, always pretty

4 – El Chignon Dolls Maria – I gave her one of my temporary all-watercolor faceups

5-8 – The Speed Couture challenge!

9 – Otohime Yu-Chan outside the speakeasy

10 – I had EXTREMELY good luck in the raffle!!

El Chignon Dolls Maria

July 2023 – I took some photos of the lovely Maria from El Chignon Dolls! She came with hot glue sueding and she is a fabulous poser, but I wish she had flat feet. I didn’t have any shoes that actually fit, but I was able to stick her in some What’s Her Face sandals so that she could stand on her own.

I love Maria’s head as-is, but I wanted to do a quick comparison/hybrid test with Minifee. I think it works quite well! She is about Moe height and the medium tan is very similar to FL tan. The Moe body is from ~2012 and pretty severely yellowed/greened while the blank head is new from late 2022. The neck is thinner than Minifee and but not so thin that it doesn’t work. No clothes-sharing between them, obviously, but I easily fit her into larger MSD boy sized clothes.

Unoa 2nd Instruction Sheet

This is more for documentation/usefulness than because it’s interesting to look at, but someone on DoA asked about how to string a Unoa 2nd so I took a picture of the instructions because it’s genuinely the weirdest stringing I’ve ever seen. The head is attached with a thin elastic that’s looped around the arm elastic! So weird!

I sometimes think about trying to drill through the torso and/or add a torso joint to make her a bit more posable and stable.
